5th July 2005 - Daken goes for growth
Daken
launches a new range of Techfence energisers and accessories.
The Techfence range is the culmination of over 30 years of
experience in Australian electric fencing. Despite the enormous
pressure to move manufacturing offshore Daken has continued
to invest in Australia.
"Techfence is a pivotal product for Daken both to compete
locally and to lead our push into overseas markets to build
our volume and so justify our decision to remain an Australian
manufacturer" continues Cole Jones.
"Launched 18 months ago the reception from the dealers
has been exceptional resulting in good, and accelerating sales,
whilst the product has performed extremely well in the field.
In support we have a very good dealer network, but are still
looking for more, particularly on the west coast."
The technically advanced Techfence range covers Mains, Battery
and Solar powered energisers. Included are many innovative features
including 'Fence Overload' indicator, digital output voltage
reading, digital fence 'Load Factor' reading, low battery Indicator,
'Chunky' fence terminals that are strong and easy to use, and
many more.
"We wanted a range of energisers that are functional and
easy to understand, whilst featuring real cutting-edge technology,
balanced with a robust, functional design," adds Cole Jones.
"Information is great so long as the farmer can understand
it and use it to his benefit. These days a product must be friendly
to sell and friendly to use."
Rural
Australia is undeniably going through some of the toughest time
on record with drought affecting much of the country. A succession
of poor harvests that have drained farmers financial reserves,
loaded them up with debts that will take years of good seasons
to pay off, and has put the lid on farm productivity. And perhaps
more serious still has been the social and emotional fallout,
as families feel the effects of depression and stress, and young
people leave the districts.
Despite all this doom and gloom Daken has survived and is continuing
to grow and develop. "Our success is simple, good products
and pricing combined with product diversity backed with genuine
customer service", said Mr Jones.
"The combination of Electric Fencing and Tractor Implements
is a winner for Daken. There is always an area or product that
is performing well, when others are not. With Tractor implements
manufactured in our South Oakleigh Factory and the international
machinery Agencies we have a great balance, which we can apply
through many markets. Our area managers are not restricted to
a single business avenue but have the scope to investigate many
many more", explains Cole Jones.
