October 2006 - "The quality of the finished job is largely determined by the screed and the IR Blaw-Knox Ultimat-16 screed is second to none"

According to Tony Strazzieri, owner of Allroad Surfaces, it is the best commercial decision he has made. "We have a long standing reputation for high quality workmanship and service and the Blaw-Knox PF-2181 has the technology and features to deliver a first class finish every time on a range of different jobs from suburban driveways to major highways."

Allroad Surfaces is respected as a real success story. Joining the industry in 1989, Tony established the company 10 years ago. In that time he has built it to be one of the largest asphalt contractors on the Queensland Sunshine Coast. Allroad Surfaces employs 13 experienced specialists in asphalt bitumen paving, contracting to a range of clients including private, government and major contractors. It runs an impressive fleet of trucks, floats, compaction rolling equipment, Bobcat skid-steer loaders, excavators and pavers.

Explaining the reasons for his decision Tony said, "The Ultimat-16 screed is equipped with an onboard generator, auxiliary power outlets and an energy management system, and the electrically heated screed eliminates the problems associated with LPG bottles. It is a double width screed of 2.44 to 4.88 meters through to 5.49 meters with additional extensions. It also has extendable front mount extensions which allow the operator to change the width with the flick of a switch without having to take into account the head of material which is an issue for rear mounted extension screeds."

The IR Blaw-Knox PF-2181 is a high production wheel paver particularly suited to Australian applications with two fully equipped driver control stations on a low deck with hand rails designed for operator safety and exceptional visibility.

Rob Messner Clark Equipment Paving Specialist commissioned the PF-2181 Paver for Allroad Surfaces and trained their operators while working on a sub-division paving job. Tony Strazzieri said, "The operators appreciated Rob's experience and knowledge and are extremely happy with the performance of the new paver".

The paver features a number of exclusive IR Blaw-Knox design initiatives including maintenance free sealed bearings and clamp in conveyor floor plates, which significantly reduce maintenance and replacement time.

The IR Blaw-Knox PF-2181 is powered by the reliable 158 Hp Cummins QSB 5.9-30t diesel engine. It is also equipped with a quality reduction planetary / hydrostatic drive system for unmatched wheel torque and internal spring applied hydraulic released brakes for maximum safety. Its extendable auger tunnels combined with an infinitely variable automatic auger / conveyor control maintains an even head of material to ensure a smooth ride, minimise material segregation and deliver the best all-round performance for the finished mat.
