Equipment Australia's (CEA's) Heavy Equipment Division (HED)
has delivered four of its latest generation Omega 54E Dedicated
Container Handlers to the Port of Brisbane's Multimodal Terminal
located at Fisherman Islands. They join another Fifteen Omega
48's and 54's on the Island bringing the total D and E Series
population in Brisbane to Thirty machines.
In addition to the supply of the Four Container Handlers to
the BMT CEA also won the contract to provide the service and
maintenance for the machines for the next five years. CEA now
operate two Heavy Equipment Service Centre's at Fisherman Islands,
which are also supported by Branch Facilities at Coopers Plains
and Acacia Ridge.
Designed and manufactured at CEA's Hornsby NSW facility the
Omega 54E which is capable of stacking a 40 Metric Tonne 9'6"
Container five high, is the Flagship of the Omega Range of Container
Handling Equipment. More than one hundred and twenty Omega D
and E Series Trucks have now been sold with P&O and Patrick
alone operating a fleet of Forty model 48's and 54's between
them.
The recently introduced E Series succeeds the very successful
D series and incorporates the latest Cummins QSM11 250 kW (335
HP) Electronic Engine combined with a Dana TE27 Electronic Transmission.
Between them they ensure the Omega performs at optimum levels
whilst introducing new levels of safety and protection. Whilst
producing an additional 33kW (45 HP) compared to the M11 in
the D Series the Cummins QSM11 is significantly more economical
which combined with a massive 930 Litre Fuel tank can provide
three to four days of uninterrupted operation between refueling
stops.
